Control the smaller circle
Stoic practice is often sold as indifference. It is closer to accurate bookkeeping.
Some events are yours: judgments, effort, the next sentence you say. Some are not: weather, other people, the past. Suffering grows when you spend energy in the second circle while neglecting the first.
This is not a call to passivity. It is a way to stop rehearsing speeches for audiences that will never hear them, and to use that time on the work that can still change.
